School Health Updates - Chronic Absenteeism in Nebraska
Chronic Absenteeism in Nebraska presented by Lane Carr, Director of Accountability, NDE, and Kim Larson, After School Family and Community Engagement Specialist on February 20, 2020.
Lane Carr has served as Director of Accountability and AQuESTT since May 2018. Prior to this position, Lane coordinated the Nebraska Innovation Grant Program. As a former science teacher, Lane seeks to consider how policy decisions at the state level influence teachers and students. Lane studied Education Policy at Vanderbilt University, where he also served as a graduate fellow at the Statewide Collaborative on Reforming Education and at the state department of education working with Tennessee’s unique “Tennessee Pathways” program. As Director of Accountability, Lane connects and communicates with varied stakeholders on how to use school accountability results to further improve Nebraska's schools and to advance equity.
Objective: To build further understanding of the extent of the chronic absenteeism problem in Nebraska.
