Tired Moccasn Native Elder Program

Providing nutritional meals, health education, socialization, recreational and educational opportunities to Native American elders. This important program is available to elders 60 years of age and older. Activities include: arts and crafts, low-impact exercises, day-time television programs, field trips, student nurse visits once a month and meals Tuesday - Thursday. Many activities for family members are also planned.

Caregiver Support Groups

Do You Need Support Caring for an Older Person? A caregiver support group can offer an atmosphere of understanding and support for caregivers to discuss issues and problems. Some caregivers feel if they participate in a support group they are in some way not coping. Nothing could be further from the truth. By participating in a group, they are recognizing that to become a successful caregiver might include seeking additional support and resources.

NIA Offers New Spanish-Language Website

Accurate, up-to-date information on health issues affecting Hispanic seniors is now available online in Spanish from the National Institute on Aging (NIA), part of the National Institutes of Health. The user-friendly website has information on a wide range of health topics, including diseases such as Alzheimer's, cancer and diabetes. Helpful tips on choosing a doctor and maintaining a healthy lifestyle also are available at www.nia.nih.gov/Espanol.

Long-Term Case Management in Western Nebraska

The Aging Office of Western Nebraska (AOWN) Care Management Program is designed to provide identification, coordination, and facilitation of community services to assist elderly remain in their own homes. This program receives its certification from the Nebraska Health and Human Services, Division on Aging and Disability Services.

Nutrition Centers in Western Nebraska
The Aging Office of Western Nebraska (AOWN) administrates a noon meal program throughout the Panhandle of Nebraska. Each meal is prepared to meet one-third of the daily recommended dietary needs of older adults. The meal is of no cost, but a suggested contribution is solicited to help defray the cost of its provision.

To arrange for the Nutrition service please call the site manager at any of the locations listed below. Advance notification is appreciated. All locations serve five days a week.
