The American Stroke Association is a division of the American Heart Association. Together they provide the Heart and Stroke A-Z Guide. They also have a search engine to request specific topics an interactive risk assessment and more.


Assistive Technology for All

AT4ALL is a free service from the Assistive Technology Partnership. AT4ALL has a variety of equipment available for all of your needs. Equipment available includes computers wheelchairs scooters walkers personal care items items for vision and hearing impairments hospital beds and adapted vehicles. At AT4ALL you can find equipment for loan for sale or for giveaway. You can also find equipment from local lending program to try out before you buy it.


Children of Aging Parents

Children of Aging Parents CAPS a national not-for profit agency recently announced the formation of a new support group for local caregivers at Omahas premier independent living community Elk Ridge Village. Elk Ridge Village which is located off of 194th Blondo just north of the West Dodge Expressway will pamper support group participants with complimentary refreshments in their exquisite dining room prior to each meeting.


CHIRS Consumer Health Information Resource Service

Need information to guide decisions about your health or the health of a family member or friend The McGoogan Library of Medicine provides such information to Nebraska residents free of charge through their Consumer Health Information Resource Service CHIRS. A Health Sciences Librarian will research your condition and provide a tailored package of information that may include Journal Articles Book Chapters Pamphlets and Web Resources. CHIRS information is provided for informational purposes only. Consult with your health care provider for specific medical questions. To request health information contact CHIRS or email them at askusunmc.edu or contact your local public library.


Heart Information Network

Heart Information Network is an independent educational Web site. Material is reported in condensed form gathered from journals news releases and other sources. Their nutrition and resources pages are especially helpful--check the side bar.


Housing.ne.gov

The Assistive Technology Partnership hosts this housing listing and locator service that will provide easy access to information about housing opportunities throughout Nebraska. The service allows Nebraskans to locate available housing that best fits their needs either through the web site or 1-888-806-6287. Individuals will be able to easily search for housing using a wide variety of search criteria access other helpful websites as well as tools for renters including an affordability calculator a rental checklist and renter rights and responsibilities information - also provides information on supportive services throughout the State especially those services linked to housing needs.


National Heart Lung and Blood Institute

Provides comprehensive health information for patients and the general public as well as for health care professionals. Some topics include heart and vascular diseases lung diseases blood diseases and sleep disorders. Dozens of publications are available to download many are in Spanish.


National Stroke Association

National Stroke Association - This site provides survivor and caregiver resources locations of local support groups links to products and services including equipment and adaptive clothing and much more.


Nebraska Library Commissions Talking Book Braille Service

The Nebraska Library Commissions Talking Book Braille Service is part of a nationwide network of cooperating libraries headed by the National Library Service NLS a division of the Library of Congress. They provide audio and Braille books and magazines to individuals with a visual or physical condition or reading disability which limits use of regular print.
