ActionNow Community Diabetes Prevention and Control is a public education outreach of a Lancaster County Nebraska community partnership formed to prevent diabetes and its complications. The focus of ActionNow is to help you take action now to help prevent delay or control diabetes and its serious consequences.


American Diabetes Association

The American Diabetes Association is the nations leading nonprofit health organization providing diabetes research information and advocacy. This comprehensive site covers all types of diabetes. It provides a wealth of information on diagnosis treatment nutrition including cookbooks and recipes exercise books magazines and journals.


Assistive Technology for All

AT4ALL is a free service from the Assistive Technology Partnership. AT4ALL has a variety of equipment available for all of your needs. Equipment available includes computers wheelchairs scooters walkers personal care items items for vision and hearing impairments hospital beds and adapted vehicles. At AT4ALL you can find equipment for loan for sale or for giveaway. You can also find equipment from local lending program to try out before you buy it.


Children of Aging Parents

Children of Aging Parents CAPS a national not-for profit agency recently announced the formation of a new support group for local caregivers at Omahas premier independent living community Elk Ridge Village. Elk Ridge Village which is located off of 194th Blondo just north of the West Dodge Expressway will pamper support group participants with complimentary refreshments in their exquisite dining room prior to each meeting.


Children with Diabetes

Children with Diabetes is an on-line community for kids families and adults with diabetes. Among other things they promote understanding of the care and treatment of diabetes especially in children.


CHIRS Consumer Health Information Resource Service

Need information to guide decisions about your health or the health of a family member or friend The McGoogan Library of Medicine provides such information to Nebraska residents free of charge through their Consumer Health Information Resource Service CHIRS. A Health Sciences Librarian will research your condition and provide a tailored package of information that may include Journal Articles Book Chapters Pamphlets and Web Resources. CHIRS information is provided for informational purposes only. Consult with your health care provider for specific medical questions. To request health information contact CHIRS or email them at askusunmc.edu or contact your local public library.

The Assistive Technology Partnership hosts this housing listing and locator service that will provide easy access to information about housing opportunities throughout Nebraska. The service allows Nebraskans to locate available housing that best fits their needs either through the web site or 1-888-806-6287. Individuals will be able to easily search for housing using a wide variety of search criteria access other helpful websites as well as tools for renters including an affordability calculator a rental checklist and renter rights and responsibilities information - also provides information on supportive services throughout the State especially those services linked to housing needs.

Joslin Diabetes Center is affiliated with Harvard Medical School. This site has great information for children and adults including an on-line library nutrition information discussion groups help for managing diabetes news articles and more.


Juvenile Diabetes Foundation JDF

Juvenile Diabetes Foundation JDF Each chapter of Juvenile Diabetes Foundation International serves as a central resource for information about Type 1 or juvenile diabetes and about the local diabetes community.

National Diabetes Education Program

DEP is a partnership of the National Institutes of Health the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and more than 200 public and private organizations. Nebraska Library Commissions Talking Book Braille Service

The Nebraska Library Commissions Talking Book Braille Service is part of a nationwide network of cooperating libraries headed by the National Library Service NLS a division of the Library of Congress. They provide audio and Braille books and magazines to individuals with a visual or physical condition or reading disability which limits use of regular print.


NIDDK Clearinghouses Publications Catalog

National Diabetes Information Clearinghouse Sponsored by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases NIDDK at NIH. This is an excellent source for information on all types of diabetes. Many articles are available in Spanish.


Penn Rodebaugh Diabetes Center

The Penn Rodebaugh Diabetes Center at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to the treatment and prevention of diabetes. Our Center unique to the Philadelphia region provides comprehensive care exclusively for patients with diabetes pre-diabetes and other endocrine problems.
