How do I join a Medicare drug plan?

Once you choose a Medicare drug plan, you may be able to join

• by paper application. Contact the company offering the plan you choose, and ask for an application. Once you
  fill out the application, mail or fax it back to the company.
  
• on the plan’s website. Visit the drug plan company’s website to see if you can join online.
• on Medicare’s website. You may also be able to join a Medicare drug plan at www.medicare.gov on the web.
  Select “Compare Medicare Prescription Drug Plans.” Not all Medicare drug plans offer the option to enroll on
  the web.
• over the telephone. You may be able to join by calling the plan you want or by calling 1 800 633 - 4227.
  Medicare drug plans aren’t allowed to call you to enroll you in a plan.

When you join a Medicare drug plan, you will have to provide your Medicare number. Look on your Medicare card for your number and the date your Part A or Part B coverage started.
