Assertiveness Pays!

Assertiveness Pays!

A Lincoln, Nebraska woman recently received a phone call from a gentleman identifying himself as a representative of the National Medical Office. He told her that Medicare was not going to be paying as much of her medical bills as they had previously and that she would need to get registered right away for their card. He said she would need to carry their card along with her Medicare card and present it when she needed medical services.

She said the gentleman, who spoke with a foreign accent, was quite insistent that she needed to register for their card. He told her that they already had her personal information (he knew her name). She did not provide him with any additional details, but asked how he was able to obtain information about her and he said it was because she went to the doctor.

When she asked for a phone number to call him back, he ended the call. A while later, she received a similar call from the same organization, again insisting that she register for their card. She again asked for a phone number to call him back and he ended the call.
