Discount Drug Company Assistance Programs

Almost all pharmaceutical manufacturers provide discount programs for persons who are unable to afford their drugs. (See Discount Drug Company Assistance Programs below.) Those individuals on Medicare may have additional options to pay for some prescriptions.

The Original Medicare Plan does cover some oral cancer drugs and immunosuppressive drugs following an organ transplant. Currently, Medicare Prescription Drug Plans will give seniors the option to obtain prescription drug coverage through Medicare.

Some Medicare Advantage plans include a prescription drug benefit. To learn about Medicare Advantage plans in your area, call SHIIP, 1-800-234-7119.

Some counties in Nebraska are offering free prescription discount cards to be used at participating pharmacies. This program is offered in a joint effort of participating county governments and the National Association of Counties (NACo).
