Light It Up Blue
On the evenings of April 1 and 2, 2011, prominent buildings across North Americqa and the world--including the Empire State Building in New York City and the CN Tower in Toronto, Canada--will turn their lights blue to raise awareness for autism to commemorate World Autism Awareness Day on Saturday, April 2.
On the evening of April 1, the Nebraska State Capitol will light up blue as well. Autism Speaks together with Autism Family Network and Autism Society of Nebraska will turn the Nebraksa Capitol's lights blue at 7:00 p.m. on the west side of the state capitol by the Lincoln statue. Individuals at the event will be given blue glow lights and stand together as the capitol shines blue on autism.
People are also encouraged to wear blue and light their houses up blue by putting blue light bulbs in any outdoor fixtures on April 2.
